Call: CERV-2024-DAPHNE

What is BRAVE-WOW?
Building respectful and violence-free gender-inclusive environments in the world of work is the key goal of BRAVE-WOW, an EU-CERV project, launched in May 2025.
14 partners, from Portugal, Italy, Slovenia and Spain will work together to address the gender-based violence (GBV) and harassment in the workplace.
The project will address this phenomenon in the health care sector, one of the most exposed to GBV, testing real-world policy interventions. The intervention can lead to structural changes and multiplying effects in the long term with wide geographical coverage.
Why Now?
GBV and harassment in the workplace often go undetected or underreported.
The BRAVE-WOW aims to respond to this gap by delivering some innovative tools, combining research and cross-border collaboration to drive meaningful change.
Using a new tool, the Gender-Based Violence at Work Questionnaire, the project seeks to enhance the prevention and awareness of GBV in professional settings. Alongside the Decent Work Questionnaire, the project will introduce a digital platform to facilitate ongoing learning and collaboration. Additionally, it will establish a European Community of Practice to ensure the project’s long-term sustainability and broader impact.
These tools will be tested in healthcare settings across Portugal, Italy, Slovenia, and Spain, with plans for future expansion across Europe.
Our Goals
Understanding GBV and harassment at work through a comprehensive research framework and the developing of a new assessment tool designed to enhance understanding and prevention of gender-based violence and harassment in the workplace
Promoting inclusive dialogue with stakeholders to prevent workplace GBV and foster a culture of respect, diversity, and accountability.
Implementing pilot projects in healthcare organisations in Portugal, Spain, Italy, and Slovenia to gather data on GBV in healthcare, develop prevention strategies, and create replicable support mechanisms for victims.
Co-develop a policy roadmap for the four partner countries to revise and integrate policies, guidelines, and procedures at systemic and organisational levels for sustainable change.
Elaborating an innovative plan for outreach and sustainability, improving policies and processes.
