The BRAVE-WOW project has taken another strategic step in consolidating its network of institutional partners. A working meeting brought together Prof. Carla Semedo (University of Évora), with Dr. Luisa Rebocho, Clinical Director, and Dr. Maria do Céu Canhão, executive member of the Administration Board of Unidade Local de Saúde do Alentejo Central, one of BRAVE-WOW’s associated partners, from Portugal.
The primary objective of the discussion was twofold: first, to formally solidify the partnership between the BRAVE-WOW project and ULSAC, integrating the health unit as a key stakeholder and implementation site; and second, to delineate and discuss the specific, substantive role ULSAC will play in the project’s development and execution. Throughout the discussion, the teams identified strong alignment between BRAVE-WOW’s goals and ULSAC’s ongoing priorities.
The conversation underscored the urgency of reinforcing robust mechanisms to prevent, detect, and respond to workplace violence in healthcare settings—a complex issue with direct implications for the safety and well-being of professionals, the resilience of teams, and the quality of care provided to the public. In particular, the meeting emphasized continuous awareness-raising and capacity-building for health workers, alongside clear procedures that promote safer, more collaborative, and inclusive work environments. The meeting was therefore highly productive, both in terms of strategic alignment and in identifying priority areas for collaboration. This collaboration is set to strengthen the bridge between academic research and clinical and managerial practice. By connecting the University of Évora’s scientific expertise with ULSAC’s operational experience, BRAVE-WOW can ensure that its instruments, resources, and methodologies respond to real needs observed on the ground.
The exchange highlighted the relevance of integrating scientific knowledge, management perspectives, and the lived realities of healthcare professionals who face risk situations in their daily routines and require clear, consistent, and sustained responses. Together, we move forward with purpose toward safer, fairer, and more humane healthcare organizations.
