Brave-wow meets Gabinete Nacional de Apoio Médico (GNAM) [National Office for Physician Support] to discuss violence against physicians.

On 5th November, BRAVE-WOW, represented by Professora Carla Semedo (University of Évora), attended a meeting with GNAM, a structure of Ordem dos Médicos (OM) [Portuguese Medical Association] that focuses on preventing burnout and workplace violence, and providing support to professionals affected by these issues. The session brought together the President of OM, Dr. Carlos Cortes, the GNAM Coordinator, Dr. João Redondo, and several medical professionals.

During the meeting, current data on violence against physicians was discussed, underscoring the urgency of coordinated responses across institutions. BRAVE-WOW was invited to present its goals, tools, and implementation pathway, highlighting how evidence-based prevention and response protocols can strengthen safer, more supportive healthcare workplaces.

At the close of the session, BRAVE-WOW extended a formal invitation for an institutional collaboration with the Portuguese Medical Association. OM expressed clear interest and availability to work with us. This prospective collaboration aligns with BRAVE-WOW’s strategy of building bridges between research and frontline practice, previously reinforced through engagements with ULSAC and other stakeholders, and will help accelerate impact where it matters most: in daily clinical settings.
