BRAVE-WOW showcases its vision for inclusive workplaces at the 1st MEESI Meeting

The BRAVE-WOW project contributed to the discussion on inclusive policies and decent work at the 1st MEESI Meeting, an event dedicated to exploring pathways towards a truly inclusive society. During the meeting, held at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Coimbra (UC), on 2 June, BRAVE-WOW showcased its approach to fostering safer, more inclusive, and well-being-oriented workplaces, particularly within the healthcare sector.

The 1st MEESI Meeting took place under the theme “Policies for Inclusion: Pathways towards a Truly Inclusive Society”. At the session, Ana Sofia Menício, from the University of Coimbra (UC) team, highlighted the contribution the BRAVE-WOW project aims to make to promoting more inclusive, safe, and well-being-oriented workplaces, with a particular focus on the healthcare sector.

Her intervention underlined the importance of addressing gender diversity, as well as other dimensions which, although not directly related to gender, may influence people’s well-being in work contexts.

Grounded in the Decent Work perspective, BRAVE-WOW was presented as an innovative project that seeks to combine research, collaboration with various stakeholders, and intervention in real-world work settings. The intervention, therefore, emphasised the relevance of approaching inclusion through working conditions, organisational relationships, and the promotion of fairer, more respectful, and genuinely inclusive workplaces.

The MEESI Meeting brought together students, academics, policymakers, alumni, and other stakeholders to discuss policies and practices that can contribute to a more inclusive society. Organised within the framework of the Masters’ Degree in Education, Special Needs and Inclusion (MEESI), the event aimed not only to promote reflection on inclusion-related challenges but also to strengthen the sense of community among students, lecturers and graduates.
